Dust dry fruits and chocolate chips with flour before adding butter, it will stop them from sinking to the bottom of the cake.

Cool your bakes first before taking out of baking dishes to prevent them from baking apart.

Sift flour, cocoa powder etc before adding to your cake mix as without sifting it could lead to lumps in the batter mix and prevent the cakes from rising properly.
