British Sandwich Week, 19th-26th May, is a week-long celebration of the greatest food to go and quite possibly the most iconic British culinary invention, the Sandwich.
The humble sandwich is celebrated in all it’s glory during British Sandwich Week and year on year the buzz around the week seems to grow with more and more companies using the week to promote their business.
#BritishSandwichWeek trends across twitter during the week and newspapers, magazines, TV shows and radio programmes join in celebrating what is a staple British lunch.
British Sandwich Week really hit the airwaves last year. DJ Chris Evans enjoyed some of the award-winning sandwiches during his Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Simon Mayo extolled the virtues of the sandwich during his drivetime show and Eammon Holmes enjoyed a feast of sandwiches during drivetime show on Talk Radio. The BSA featured on BBC Radio across the country discussing the top five sandwiches and talking about the work of the British Sandwich Association.
There were over 200,000 articles about British Sandwich Week both online and across print media. The Sun newspaper ran their own poll testing out high street sandwiches with our 2017 Sandwich Designer of the Year Martin Willsher.
So why not pop into The Village Kitchen during the British Sandwich Week this May and enjoy a sandwich from our menu.
