The Robin Hood Festival is a celebration of the world’s favourite outlaw and the legends which have been inspired by the landscape of Sherwood Forest.

This year marks the 39th Festival, which celebrates the legend of Robin Hood, Maid Marian and the outlaw band who have made Sherwood Forest famous the world over.

Each year, the Festival attracts visitors from all over the world. They come to enjoy spectacular jousting displays, hand-to-hand combat demonstrations, historical re-enactment and much, much more.

So plan your visit by stopping for a bite to eat at The Village Kitchen before your day in Sherwood Forest.

They come to see spectacular displays of jousting on horseback and medieval hand-to-hand combat, archery, historical re-enactment, music, comedy, children’s entertainment and much, much more.

Throughout the summer, there will be archery and axe-throwing at the Major Oak and, as ever, we have a summer trail.

This year, the Festival begins with another weekend of outdoor cinema.

Our Films in the Forest event is now firmly established in the Festival line-up, with six films being shown on the big screen, including two Robin Hood movies.

The Knights of Nottingham return to the Robin Hood Festival for the fourth year in a row with their spectacular horseback jousting display, 2nd – 3rd August.

Their retelling of the legend of Robin Hood and his battles with the Sheriff of Nottingham is action-packed, with dazzlng horsemanship and brilliant hand-to-hand combat displays in our arena.

They will perform twice daily, and you won’t want to miss either show because the tale is told in two thrilling parts!
