  1. Visit St Mary’s Church ( nearly opposite The Village Kitchen) where legend says Robin Hood married Maid Marion.
  2. Either before or after your visit to St. Mary’s Church pop into The Village Kitchen for something delicious to eat and drink.
  3. Head to the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre where you’ll find useful information from our staff, trail guides and inspiration, facilities, retail therapy, and some delicious food and drink to fuel your journey.
  4. Pop into The Robin Hood Gallery where it will provide an immersive experience, enabling visitors to travel back in time to Medieval Nottingham and stroll through the leafy realms of Sherwood Forest.
  5. Go to the Sherwood Forest Arts and Craft Centre it lies in the beautifully converted coach house and stables of the former Edwinstowe Hall. Combine it with a visit to the forest for a great family day out – the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is just a few minutes’ walk away. The centre is home to a variety of unusual crafts including textiles, fossils and gemstones, paintings, coppersmith, candles, fabric crafts, hand crafted chocolate, handmade soap and jewellery. Visitors can buy unique and original gifts directly form the people who make them.
  6. Have a Go Ape adventure which packs a punch with six brilliant outdoor activities for adults and children. Be prepared for some serious speed on the Treetop Challenge course in Sherwood Forest where the tandem zip wire speedometer can hit 20 mph. Kids are spoilt for choice with Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure Plus courses and one of the only three Nets Adventures in the UK. Decisions, decisions. Bounce in the clouds or climb up to the clouds?!If you love to go off-road, hop on to one of our all-terrain Forest Segways and explore the varied terrain and beautiful woodlands of Sherwood Pines forest.

  8. Take the kids for a ride on the Sherwood Forest Railway which is home to the only Narrow Gauge Steam Railway in Nottinghamshire, and it’s in miniature! A real steam railway, reduced to 5 eighths scale, with 5 locomotives, and 7 coaches, plus signals, level crossings, and a tunnel, all perfectly recreated in a smaller size, which the kids will absolutely love!

  10. As you and the kids follow the 2.5 mile Trail route, keep your eyes peeled to search out the answers to the clues which can be found on statues, buildings or structures within the area, all whilst learning about the legend and the history of Robin Hood.
